
Cheddar & Chive Biscuits

Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed or grated
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Argo® Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 cups heaped sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup minced fresh chives
- 1 cup buttermilk, cold plus 2 tablespoons for milk washing the dough
- Flaky sea salt
Directions
- Mix dry flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir in chives and cheddar.
- Take the butter and add it to the dry ingredients using a mixer on low until the mixture is crumbly but holds together. Pour in 1 cup of the buttermilk slowly while mixing on a low speed.
- Flour surface and press the dough into a rectangle. Fold into thirds (book fold) and press into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Repeat folding and pressing 3 more times. Press the dough into a 9” square that’s about 1” thick.
- Using a round cookie cutter cut into rounds. Transfer the biscuits to a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat an oven to 450 F.
- Brush tops with remaining buttermilk, sprinkle with the sea salt and top with a little extra shredded cheddar. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown.
